Orenda partners with K-12 educators – at the district, school, and classroom levels – to build a foundation of systems and practices that is grounded in equity, driven by data, and sustained through shared learning.  Honed over twenty years, our science-based Nested Data Response System has helped partners produce dramatic results for all students, especially the most vulnerable.  In 2015, we became affiliated with Think Together, a non-profit organization with a mission to partner with schools to change the odds for kids.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Achievement Specialist partners with school and district leadership teams in the planning, implementation and monitoring of school and district improvement strategies.  In addition to understanding effective, research-based professional development standards and delivery models, the Achievement Specialist will demonstrate knowledge of the skill necessary to meet the needs of diverse partners.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with and coach school and district leadership teams to embed best practices for setting student performance goals, using data to track progress, and developing strategies that drive achievement
  • Lead leadership training sessions, facilitating data reflection meetings with principals and teachers, and provide feedback and coaching to principals and administrators on what constitutes powerful teaching and learning
  • Train, coach and build the expertise of school and district leaders in to lead and overcome the barrier to successful data-driven instruction and increase student achievement
  • Oversee and support the work of Instructional Specialists in delivering professional development centered on high impact instructional, planning and leadership strategies that support improvements in student achievement
  • Create, prepare and deliver high impact presentations to internal and external audiences
  • Build strong relationships with teachers, principals and district administrators; leading to high levels of partner satisfaction that position Orenda as a key partner to increasing student achievement
  • Contribute to Orenda’s knowledge base on instructional and other improvements strategies and develop content used in training workshops
  • Engage in a gradual release of support to school and district leadership teams to ensure gains are maintained after partnerships with Orenda ends
  • Use persuasion, tact and diplomacy as well as thorough knowledge of best practices in instructional improvement, to inspire teachers and educational leaders to transform student outcomes
  • Participate in business development activities such as meeting with potential partners, following up on leads, and collaborating on contract renewals
  • Develop tools, strategies and innovative ideas that improve Orenda’s ability to support schools and districts
  • Travel to multiple school site, office and other locations throughout the week
  • Minimum overnight stays twice a month during the school year
  • Ability to work during the summer, with frequent overnight stays some requiring up to five consecutive nights

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10 years of experience working at all levels of the educational system (teacher, principal. District or county administrator preferred)
  • Educational level: Masters in Education, Teacher or Administrator Credential.
  • Interpersonal Skills: ability to leads change in complex systems, impeccable presentation skills, ability to inspire and motivate adults, excellent organization skills, high degree of personal initiative and problem-solving ability
  • Advanced computer skills. Ability to complete computer-related tasks rapidly and accurately
  • Personal, reliable vehicle required
