JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Site Coordinator, the Credit Recovery Instructor will be responsible for providing high quality specialized academic classes for the Older Youth (High School and/or Middle School), population during the “out of school” hours. The Older Youth Academic Instructor will provide specific instruction, determined through the collaboration of the Instructional Day Administration and THINK Together Program Leadership, that will address identified student academic needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide instruction (using approved curriculum) and complete supportive documentation consistent with school district instructional day requirements and expectations.
• Support academic growth of older youth students using traditional direct instruction and/or educational technology instruction.
• Use a traditional direct instruction to promote and document the older youth students’ academic progress.
• Provide elective or core academic instruction for older youth students using traditional direct instruction to document and validate course completion.
• Use of educational technology instruction academic support software and systems to promote and document older youth students’ academic progress.
• Provide elective and/or core academic instruction for older youth students using educational technology that provides credit recovery software and systems to document and validate course completion.
• Promote and document older youth students’ academic progress using a combination of educational technology instruction using software and systems coupled with traditional direct instruction to create blended instruction.
• Provide elective and/or core academic instruction for older youth students using educational technology providing credit recovery software and systems, combined with traditional direct instruction to create blended instruction.
• Serve as a positive role model in the program through appropriate dress, speech, and attitude.
• Create an environment that fosters a sense of belonging for all students.
• Maintain accurate paperwork including sign-in/sign-out sheets for each class session.
• Obtain and organize student materials as directed by the Site Facilitator.
• Communicate and collaborate with other after-school staff, classroom teachers, administrators, parents, and community members.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Arrives punctually in order to meet responsibilities in site start up and assignments.
• Maintains close communication with Site Facilitator regarding planned or emergency absences.
• Maintains clean classroom and facility space.
• Maintains highest degree of confidentiality in staff, student, and volunteer matters.
• Complies with THINK Together, school district, and school site policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field
• Teaching Credential (either Multiple or Single Subject)
• Minimum of 1 year teaching experience
• Computer skills to navigate the online credit recovery system.
• Ability to build relationships with students and manage a classroom of students.
• Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting).
• Satisfactory Tuberculosis Test
