Shipping & Logistics Assistant
Hourly Pay $21.50
The Shipping & Logistics Assistant supports the daily operations of the Shipping & Logistics team by assisting with order processing, packaging, receiving, and inventory management. This role ensures timely and accurate fulfillment of customer orders, supports warehouse organization, and provides cross departmental assistance to the Fulfillment & Distribution department with order picking, restocking, and general warehouse maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist the Shipping & Logistics Lead in all shipping and receiving operations.
• Prepare, pack, and ship orders efficiently and accurately for internal and external customers.
• Receive incoming deliveries, verify accuracy against purchase orders and packing slips, and inspect for damages.
• Label, organize, and store products safely in designated warehouse areas.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe warehouse environment.
• Support the Fulfillment & Distribution team with order picking, staging, and restocking activities.
• Help maintain accurate inventory records through system updates and manual counts as directed.
• Operate pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment safely.
• Prepare shipping labels, documentation, and track outbound shipments as needed.
• Communicate professionally with shipping carriers and couriers to coordinate pickups, monitor tracking updates, and resolve any delivery issues in a timely manner to ensure excellent service for internal and external customers.
• Assist in coordinating delivery schedules and ensuring products are dispatched on time.
• Follow all safety standards and company policies related to warehouse operations and product handling.
• Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, and customers to support timely resolution of shipping or inventory issues.
• Support customer pick-ups and ensure a positive customer service experience.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, fulfillment, or warehouse operations preferred.
• Experience working in a customer service–oriented or nonprofit organization is a plus.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Team-oriented with the ability to follow direction and support multiple priorities.
• Basic knowledge of shipping and inventory procedures.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Willingness to learn new processes, software, and equipment.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
• MS Word processing
• Excel (set up, design, maintain spreadsheets, create calculation formulas)
• Use of Xerox equipment (copiers, scanners)
• Use of finishing equipment
• E-mail and Internet software
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Warehouse and production environment with moderate to high noise levels.
• Exposure to varying temperatures, dust, and occasional outdoor work.
• Regular use of material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and carts.
• Must pass Live Scan (criminal background check via fingerprinting), provide a clear TB test.
• Reliable transportation is required to meet the needs of the position.
• While driving is not a regular requirement of this role, employees who operate a personal or company vehicle for work purposes must maintain a valid driver's license and current auto insurance on file with HR.
