JOB SUMMARY:

The Technical Writer, Business Development is responsible for crafting compelling and precise responses to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), effectively showcasing the organization's program operations, systems, and unique value propositions. This role requires a keen ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, persuasive content that aligns with the strategic goals of competitive bids. The Technical Writer will coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and alignment of contributions throughout the response and submission process, playing a vital role in securing new business opportunities for the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
High-Quality RFP Response
• Deliver comprehensive, clear, and persuasive responses to RFPs that accurately represent the organization’s program offerings, operational systems, and unique value propositions.
• Determine the structure, messaging, and key content elements of RFP responses to ensure clarity and alignment with requirements.
Cross-Functional Coordination
• Manage and coordinate contributions from cross-functional teams, prioritizing and integrating inputs from various departments.
• Allocate and manage resources needed for proposal development, including assigning tasks to team members, and managing deadlines.
• Gather feedback from cross-functional teams to improve coordination and communication throughout the development process.
Compliance and Continuous Improvement
• Ensure all submissions adhere to RFP requirements and organizational standards, maintaining accuracy and consistency across documents.
• Approve final proposal documents before submission, ensuring they meet all compliance and quality standards.
• Identify and implement improvements in the proposal development process to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Evaluate proposal content quality, including clarity, accuracy, and alignment with RFP requirements, and track proposal win rates and submission timeliness based on client feedback and evaluations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree (BA) in Education, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field from a four-year college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 3+ years of experience in technical writing or proposal development, particularly in response to RFPs.
• Familiarity with the industry relevant to the organization (e.g., education, technology, non-profit) is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to produce clear, persuasive, and technically accurate content.
• Experience managing multiple proposals and coordinating cross-functional teams effectively.
• Understanding of the organization’s programs, services, and operational systems.
• Ability to align proposal content with the organization’s strategic goals and value propositions.
• High level of accuracy in meeting RFP requirements and organizational standards, with a keen eye for detail.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
• Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, Canva and Adobe
• File Management (One Drive, Box, Dropbox, etc.)
• Customer Relationship Management software (Salesforce) • Project Management tools (Asana, Microsoft Planner, etc.)
• Email, Internet, website, and social media platforms.
• Use of typical office equipment

PHYSICAL/WORK ENVIRONMENT DEMANDS:
• Moderate Noise (examples: typical office noise)
• Stand, Walk, Sit (in general office environment)
• Computer Screen visual in performance of role
• Lift up to 10 pounds
• Travel up to 10%

 

COMPENSATION:

  • Salary Range $80K-$88K

This is the targeted compensation for the position. A range of factors, including but not limited to; location, skills, experience, will be considered. Actual compensation may vary.
