Overview:
An integral member of Think Together’s regional teams, the Family & Community Engagement Coordinator (FCEC) leads parent and family engagement and community outreach efforts within a local region. The goal of the FCEC is to support healthy youth development and improved academic achievement through increased family and community engagement in the school. This position will provide activities and resources for parents designed to complement the student's regular academic program and that support college and career readiness, assist with literacy and related educational development services for families of these students.
 
Working closely with other Think Together site and regional staff, the FCEC will collaborate with school administration, teachers and parents to build Family Literacy and related educational development services. They are responsible for building and maintaining a strong relationship among parents through providing direct parent/family engagement and developing local community partnerships. The FCEC will conduct and manage parent engagement operations, including the parent wellness calls, facilitate parent workshops, parent webinars and provide parent monthly communications. The ideal candidate supports Think Together’s value that family and community involvement in education is a crucial component in closing the achievement gap and changing the odds for kids.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage local family engagement and community outreach annual plans aligning with Think Together’s mission, vision and annual goals and priorities.
  • Provide direct service at school sites to conduct needs driven assessment and develop systems of support.
  •  Work collaboratively with the public, community groups, business leaders, government officials, and regional staff to meet the needs of the families we serve
  • Create and facilitate a community needs assessment to identify meaningful needs and develop site/community specific engagement goals and focuses
  • Participate regularly in planning, implementation, and evaluation meetings at school sites with Think Together staff, families and partners
  • Provide leadership for program staff, coaching, training on program engagement to ensure quality and high parent/family engagement
  • Ensure positive organization image to general public, stakeholders and community.
  • Ensure delivery of Continuous Quality Improvement Cycle/Involvement such as establishing metrics, collecting and reporting on data required to evaluate the program’s success
  • Support with Federal Program Monitoring and record keeping
  • Provide policy and advocacy education to regional staff and parents including regular communication on local and statewide expanding learning policy status and opportunities for engagement and participation
  • Identify local policy and advocacy outreach opportunities where students will be the direct beneficiaries of the services that includes but is not limited to lead policy/advocacy engagement, participation and education efforts with families and community
  • Establish calendar of engagement events, presentations, workshops, and Think Together Parents social media content
  • Work with Marketing and Communication Department to create marketing flyers and notifications related to parent engagement network recruitment, policy and advocacy outreach, and parent engagement initiatives
  • Collect and report on data required to evaluate engagement metrics
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education, political science, public policy, or closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience working with volunteers, students, parents and community leaders.
  • At least 2 years in a position that developed or managed volunteers, facilitated community/family engagement or facilitated community organizing is preferred.

  • Takes initiative in identifying needs and creating solutions
  • Able to drive personal car to school sites or locations for work purposes
  • May include sporadic travel
  • Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends
  • Proof of valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
Requirements:
  • Must pass Livescan (criminal background check via fingerprinting)
  • Provide negative TB Test dated within the last 3 years 

Hourly Pay: $36.07
